The Ducks are still talking to the Rangers and Blues about their offers

Pierre LeBrun: The Anaheim Ducks are still talking with the New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues about Mason McTavish and their offers.

“NYR package includes roster player while St. Louis offer is picks.

If the Ducks make the Blues trade, the idea would be to flip said pick(s) before tonight to go get roster player(s) in separate trade. Ducks don’t want be sellers.

Also, there’s a chance other teams try to get back into it today as well on McTavish.”

NHL Rumors: Hurricanes, Maple Leafs, Blues, and Oilers

Mason McTavish is definitely worth exploring for the St. Louis Blues

Jeremy Rutherford: Anaheim Ducks forward Mason McTavish may not be the best option for the St. Louis Blues because of defensive deficiencies and lack of speed, but he’s an option worth exploring.

  • “They want more physicality in front of the net and at 6-1, 219, he can help provide that. You need different types of players.
  • If he’s not a No. 2 center, he can be a No. 3, or play on the wing in the top-six.
  • He’s 23. You hope he’s ascending, so what he is now isn’t what he’ll be in the coming years when he’s growing with the core.”

The Ducks like the Rangers and Blues offers more than what the Senators can offer

NHL Watcher: Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast said that the Ottawa Senators have a lot of interest in Mason McTavish. He played for Steve Staois when in the AHL and his dad works for the Senators, Ducks GM Pat Verbeek likes the offers from the Blues and Rangers more.

Jordan Binnington could be back with the Blues to start the season

Jeremy Rutherford: Believe that St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington will start next season with the Blues. He’s unlikely to get another contract from the Blues, but he should be motivated to have a good year.

NHL Rumors: Mathew Barzal, Montreal Canadiens, and the Ottawa Senators

Team’s a little reluctant on Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Brandon Carlo

NHL Rumour Report: Nick Kypreos on Sportsnet on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Brandon Carlo: “The Leafs are exploring options around Brandon Carlo; his modest cap hit makes him appealing; teams are a little reluctant to buy into him, knowing that he’s not quite the same player he was in Boston.”
