Matheus Camilo needed just one clean shot to stun the Azerbaijani crowd on Saturday.

The Brazilian lightweight pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the night at UFC Baku, knocking out local favorite Nazim Sadykhov with a first-round barrage to earn the biggest win of his UFC career.

The early moments of the fight were cautious, with both men probing for openings and switching stances as they tried to establish their timing. Sadykhov mixed in kicks and body attacks, while “Jaguar” remained patient and largely kept his offense in reserve.

That patience paid off in spectacular fashion.

As Sadykhov stepped forward to initiate an exchange, “Jaguar” uncorked a perfectly timed right hand that landed flush and immediately sent “Black Wolf” crashing to the canvas. Sensing the opportunity, Matheus Camilo pounced with a flurry of follow-up strikes as Sadykhov covered up on the ground.

The referee quickly stepped in to wave off the contest at the 1:31 mark of the opening round.

Sadykhov immediately protested the stoppage and urged the official to let him continue, but the decision stood, much to the partisan crowd’s displeasure inside the National Gymnastics Arena.

With the win, Matheus Camilo moves to 2-1 in the UFC and 11-3 overall, with seven finishes to his name. His lone setback inside the Octagon remains a submission loss to Gabe Green in May 2025.
