UFC star Conor McGregor has provided a fresh update on his training, saying that he’s “working hard” as he prepares to return to the cage at UFC 329.

In the main event of UFC 329, Conor McGregor will go head to head with Max Holloway in a rematch of their encounter from over 10 years ago – which took place in the featherweight division. On that occasion, the Irishman managed to get his hand raised, but a lot has changed since then. Both men have grown as fighters in different ways, with Conor not actually competing in five years ever since he suffered that nasty leg break courtesy of Dustin Poirier.

Conor McGregor’s many controversies outside of the cage have meant that there isn’t quite as much excitement surrounding his return as there once was. Still, something that can’t be denied by even his strongest critics is the fact that he is the biggest name to ever come out of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. For Holloway, he may well just look at this as another day at the office, further cementing his legacy as one of the best to ever do it.

Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway is a contest that will go down in the welterweight division, somewhere that McGregor is a lot more comfortable than Max, who has stuck to featherweight and lightweight during his UFC run. Still, while Conor needs to be big for the fight, he looks pretty lean when you examine his latest training photos.

Conor McGregor prepares for war

Right now, there is a real sense of the unknown surrounding McGregor’s comeback fight. Some believe Holloway is going to run through him, whereas others believe the weight difference is going to be a massive benefit for the former two-weight world champion.

Regardless of what you think, the countdown to fight night is well and truly on, and even on a night that will feature two World Cup quarter-finals, this is the biggest thing going down in the sporting world on July 11th – and the winner could set themselves up for something even more intriguing down the road.
