Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman confirmed on the weekend that the Dylan Larkin requested a trade shortly after their season ended, and Yzerman also said he wouldn’t guarantee that Larkin would be traded.
What does this mean for pending UFA Patrick Kane. Yzerman said they’d love to have him back next year. He put up 16 goals and 57 points last season. He put up 21 goals and 59 points in 72 games the previous season.

After their season, Kane said that he’d like to come back and be a part of the solution, but that was before Larkin’s trade request got out. He’s coming off two, one-year deals in which he signed on June 30th, the day before free agency.

Peter Baugh and Vincent Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic: Two league sources said that New York Rangers forward Alexis Lafreniere is expected to remain with the Rangers heading into next season. They are looking for more scoring forwards, and not to subtract one in Lefreniere.
Heading into draft weekend, sources said that contract talks with pending RFA Braden Schneider‘s camp have been quiet. They did explore a trade, but the Rangers weren’t interested in draft picks. They are looking for a young, offensive forward.
NHL Rumors: Werenski, Vladar, Tarasenko, and Kotkaniemi
Potential free agent targets could include Ville Heinola (puck-moving defenseman) and Beck Malenstyn for their bottom six (Malenstyn re-signed with the Sabres this morning).
They’re looking for a fourth-line center to replace Sam Carrick (traded to Buffalo at the deadline).
