Raoul Bellanova ‘certain’ to leave Atalanta as Tottenham open transfer discussions

Tottenham’s hunt for fresh attacking options has become one of the biggest themes of their summer rebuild, with Roberto De Zerbi eager to add more quality.

Spurs have already been linked with several exciting forwards as they reshape the squad.

Bournemouth youngster El Junior Kroupi remains one of the club’s most-discussed attacking targets, while Man City winger Savinho has also featured prominently in reports.

Rafael Leao has been another name connected with a move to north London, highlighting Tottenham’s desire to strengthen out wide after a huge summer of spending.

However, Spurs may now be looking at a player capable of filling more than one role.

Tottenham open Atalanta discussions as De Zerbi eyes Raoul Bellanova

According to Italian journalist Alessio Del Lungo of TuttoMercatoWeb, Tottenham have made contact over a move for Atalanta’s Raoul Bellanova.

The report claims the Italy international is ‘certain’ to leave Bergamo this summer, with a transfer expected if a club meets Atalanta’s asking price of up to £17 million.

That figure immediately makes Bellanova one of the more affordable options available in the current market.

Who is Raoul Bellanova?

The 26-year-old has established himself as one of Serie A’s most energetic wide players, building a reputation for relentless running, attacking intent, speed and quality delivery from the right flank.

Although naturally a wing-back, Bellanova regularly plays high enough to influence attacks as a winger, often creating chances through overlapping runs and early crosses.

His profile makes him an interesting fit for De Zerbi.

Tottenham have invested heavily in midfield and defence during this window, but there remains a clear focus on improving the squad’s tactical flexibility.

Bellanova offers that, and he is comfortable covering huge distances, contributes defensively and provides genuine width when his team dominate possession.

The reported £17m valuation also represents relatively low risk compared to many of Spurs’ other transfer targets. In a market where established wide players regularly command fees well beyond £50 million, Bellanova would arrive for a fraction of that cost while already possessing top-level experience in Italy.

Bellanova also shares the same representatives as Tottenham stars Pedro Porro, Djed Spence, Richarlison and James Maddison.

Competition could still emerge before any deal progresses, with Premier League rivals believed to have reached out as well.

Nevertheless, Tottenham’s early contact suggests they are seriously assessing whether he could become another piece of De Zerbi’s evolving squad.

From a tactical perspective, Bellanova’s versatility is perhaps his biggest selling point.

The former Inter Milan star would be more valuable as a wing-back than an out-and-out winger under De Zerbi. In a 3-4-3, his pace, stamina and crossing would allow him to dominate the entire right flank, stretching opponents and giving Spurs a brilliant Porro/Spence alternative.

He is capable of playing higher, but his biggest strengths come when attacking from deeper positions with space to accelerate into.

At around £17 million, he looks like the type of smart, low-risk signing that could quietly become one of Tottenham’s more shrewd pieces of business this summer.
