West Ham United are now eyeing Everton star Dwight McNeil, and Sky Sports have dropped an update on when a move could develop.
The Hammers may have to sign a new forward this summer, given that there are doubts surrounding Crysencio Summerville’s future, with the Dutchman desperate to sign for Manchester United.
Summerville has informed his representatives he wants to join the Premier League giants, whereas Jarrod Bowen could also be in line to depart, having held direct talks with Everton manager David Moyes.
Losing the duo could be a major blow for Nuno, considering they were involved in a combined 29 of the Irons’ 46 goals in the Premier League last season.

|
Credibility |
Signing McNeil would make a lot of sense, considering a new winger may be required, as Bowen and Summerville could be in line to depart, and the former Burnley man is capable of playing on both flanks. |
|
Finances |
It is unclear what sort of fee would tempt the Toffees into a sale, but the 26-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which weakens their negotiating position. |
|
Insight |
The Englishman has never played below Premier League level, amassing 21 goals and 35 assists in 248 top flight outings. Those numbers suggest he could flourish in the Championship, albeit he is nowhere near as prolific as Bowen, who has 65 goals to his name in 238 Premier League games. |
|
Impact |
West Ham still have hope they will be able to keep hold of Bowen, but even if the captain remains at the London Stadium, it would be savvy to sign another winger, with Summerville eager to make a move to Old Trafford. |
West Ham keen on signing Dwight McNeil
According to a report from Sky Sports, West Ham are now interested in signing McNeil, but they are not planning to make a move immediately.
Nuno still needs to discuss the Hammers’ transfer plans with new director of player recruitment Nils Koppen, with those talks set to decide whether the Rochdale-born winger is a suitable target.
Dwight McNeil could be coup for West Ham at Championship level
The Everton winger perhaps wouldn’t be the flashiest of signings, particularly at a time when West Ham could lose Summerville, who tore it up at the World Cup with the Netherlands, chipping in with two goals and two assists in four games.
However, McNeil, who has the same agent as Aaron Wan-Bissaka, is proven over a number of years in the Premier League, picking up four goals and eight assists in 21 matches for the Toffees in the 2024-25 season, which suggests he should be more than capable of thriving at Championship level.
Reporter Joe Thomas has even lauded the West Ham target as “magic”, and aside from his attacking qualities, he is skilled at winning back possession too, doing so in the final third an average of 0.9 times per 90 in the Premier League last season, the joint-highest number in David Moyes’ squad.
