Mikey Moore‘s loan spell at Rangers started quietly but ended with him becoming one of the success stories of the Scottish season.
After arriving from Tottenham last summer, the teenage winger initially found opportunities limited under Russell Martin as he adjusted to the physicality and intensity of Scottish football.
The turning point came after Danny Röhl replaced Martin in October.
Under the German coach, Moore’s confidence grew rapidly, and he developed into one of Rangers’ most dangerous attacking players.
By the end of the campaign, Moore had made 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.
Among his biggest moments was finding the net in Rangers’ memorable Old Firm victory over Celtic, while his performances throughout the season earned him both the Rangers Young Player of the Year award and the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year honour.
What began as a difficult loan became exactly the type of development Tottenham had hoped for, with Moore establishing himself as a genuine fan favourite at Ibrox.
That is why Rangers are very keen to bring Moore back.
Mikey Moore very open to Rangers return amid Borussia Dortmund hurdle
According to TEAMtalk’s Fraser Fletcher, the Scottish giants have made it clear they would welcome Moore for another loan spell, with the player himself reportedly “very open” to returning after such a successful first season.
However, Rangers now face serious competition.

Insight |
Still only 18, Moore is regarded as one of Tottenham’s brightest academy graduates. The winger became Spurs’ youngest Premier League debutant before enjoying a productive loan at Rangers, where he won two Young Player of the Year awards. His pace, direct dribbling and confidence make him one of England’s most exciting teenage attackers. |

Impact |
Moore would immediately strengthen Rangers’ attack with his pace, creativity and versatility across the front line. Having already adapted to Scottish football, he could hit the ground running from day one. His familiarity with the club and supporters would make him one of Rangers’ most influential young players if he returned. |
Borussia Dortmund have entered the race and opened talks over a potential loan move, creating a significant obstacle for the Glasgow club.
The Bundesliga side have built an outstanding reputation for developing elite young talent, particularly British players, and Tottenham are expected to carefully weigh up which destination offers Moore the best environment for his continued progress.
That being said, Dortmund want to insert a buy option in the deal, and Tottenham aren’t keen on that, which could hand Derek McInnes’ side an opening.
Rangers still have great chance to re-sign Mikey Moore
Despite Dortmund’s appeal, Rangers still have several advantages.
Moore already knows the club, understands the demands of playing at Ibrox and has proved he can perform under pressure in Scotland.

There would be no settling-in period, while another season of regular football could continue accelerating his development.
Tottenham also know exactly what Rangers can offer.
Moore returned to north London as a more complete player after a campaign that tested him physically and mentally before rewarding him with regular first-team football.
Rangers remain the smartest option for Tottenham too, given they only want to sanction a straight loan.
Dortmund’s reputation is undeniable, but Moore has already found an environment where he is trusted, valued and improved every week.
Continuity can be just as important as prestige for a player of his age, and another season at Ibrox could provide the perfect bridge before he challenges for a permanent place in Tottenham’s first team.
