For several years, Liverpool have watched on as Real Madrid came swooping in to land their top targets or even some of their best players at a bargain price.

Ibrahima Konate became the latest Anfield star to be lured to the Bernabeu at the end of the last campaign and that came just one year after Trent Alexander-Arnold.

So it’s about time Liverpool got some revenge which could come courtesy of Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian winger is out of contract in 2027 and would be the ultimate Yan Diomande alternative for the Reds.

Why Vinicius Jr would transform Liverpool

Serial winner

As a new era arrives at Anfield, they’re arguably lacking players who have been there and done it for a number of years, especially without Mohamed Salah. Vinicius Jr would add the arrogance of a winner back into that side. The Brazilian has won it all at Real Madrid, even putting Liverpool to the sword in Champions League finals.

Upgrade on Yan Diomande

Liverpool have been on the hunt for a direct winger all summer. It’s why they submitted a bid worth around £85m to sign Diomande from RB Leipzig, only for the German club to reject that bid. If Vinicius Jr is the next option that they turn to, however, then that rejection will be a blessing in disguise. The Brazilian is at a far higher level.

Ultimate Salah replacement

A Real Madrid superstar replacing Liverpool royalty would just feel right. Salah can’t be replaced by just any player. Vinicius Jr is a big-game player, as the Reds have experienced first-hand, as is at the peak of his powers at 26 years old.

It’s not been the easiest summer for the Reds, but ending their hunt for a winger with the arrival of Vinicius Jr would make their recent struggles all the more worthwhile.

Liverpool gifted huge Vinicius Junior boost

According to Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon, Liverpool have made contact over a deal to sign Vinicius Jr, requesting constant information about the Brazilian.

The impressive winger is yet to sign a new deal at Real Madrid and has even walked away from negotiations for the time being, with his representatives seeing no reason to discuss a new contract when both parties remain so far apart.

Alvarez de Mon told his YouTube channel that Liverpool have responded positively to contact from the player’s camp and could be lining up a free move for 2027.

“Vinicius’s people, naturally, have to do their job… to find out what the position would be of other clubs that could potentially sign Vinicius, whether in 2026 or 2027.

“We’re mainly talking about Premier League teams. In those initial enquiries, there was one club that clearly responded positively to their interest in Vinicius, but the numbers worked out for 2027. That club is Liverpool.”

Hailed as “one of the best players in the world” by Carlo Ancelotti, Vinicius Jr is someone who would transform Liverpool back into title contenders and potential European champions.
