Landen Williams-Callis, the class of 2027‘s top uncommitted running back, is set to announce his commitment Saturday. He was the nation’s best available player in the rising-senior cycle before A’mir Sears reclassified from 2028 this week.
The Richmond (Texas) Randle standout has been a monster in the Lone Star State, leading his high school to multiple 5A-II state title game appearances.
The 5-foot-7 1/2, 190-pound is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 38 overall prospect and No. 3 running back nationally, and the Lone Star State’s No. 3 player.
Several programs are battling for the playmaking runner, and one of them will add a potential difference maker to the field this weekend when he shares his decision.
HOW WE GOT HERE
A dynamo out of the backfield in the Houston area, Williams-Callis first popped as a freshman when he ran for nearly 2,000 yards and earned district MVP honors. Williams-Callis comes from a football family — his cousins, James Rodgers and Jacquizz Rodgers, both had impressive college careers before moving to the NFL. His uncle, Michael Lewis, was a second-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles after playing for Colorado.
Williams-Callis blazed his own trail through high school, rushing for 7,551 yards and 125 touchdowns, adding 54 catches for 728 yards and seven touchdowns in three years. Offers started coming early for Williams-Callis, who was heralded before he ever took a high school snap. A talented track and field athlete, Williams-Callis recorded several impressive times in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and was a state qualifier in the 4×100-meter relay. To date, Williams-Callis reports 70 offers from programs nationally and took seven official visits during the spring and summer.
