MIAMI — Columbus five-star athlete A’mir Sears announced his Miami commitment during Friday’s live broadcast on CBS Sports HQ and the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel. The 6-foot-1, 178-pounder who can play cornerback, safety or even receiver at the next level chose the Hurricanes over LSU, Michigan and Texas A&M down the stretch.

Sears is a new addition to the 2027 class following his decision to reclassify from 2028. Previously No. 1 player in 2028, Sears was stamped this week as the country’s No. 20 overall prospect by 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins. Despite moving up an entire recruiting cycle, Sears did not lose his fifth star and remains among the nation’s premier athletes.

In the end, Miami won out. How did the ‘Canes do it?
