St. Xavier scored 1,771 points in the MaxPreps Cup standings for boys sports, edging out Tennessee boys boarding school McCallie (Chattanooga) by 254 points. The Tigers won five state championships during the 2025-26 school year, including golf, tennis, volleyball, swimming and soccer. St. Xavier has won 207 state championships (with an additional 71 club championships) including 61 overall and 38 in a row in swimming, 29 in tennis, 22 in golf and 20 in soccer.
Sacred Heart scored 1,272 points to finish second behind overall national champion Carmel (Ind.) in the girls standings. The Valkyries won state titles in tennis, swimming, soccer and field hockey during the 2025-26 school year. The school has won 119 state championships all-time including 37 in swimming, 16 in tennis, 10 in soccer and 14 in field hockey.
Carmel finished in the top spot for the girls with 1,542 points and sixth place for boys with 1,364. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), which finished second in the overall MaxPreps Cup standings, finished third in both the boys and girls standings with 1,489 points and 1,253 points, respectively.
The MaxPreps Cup recognizes the best all-around high school sports programs in the country. The competition uses an algorithm that awards points for state championships, runner-up finishes and national rankings based on size of state, popularity of sport, size of school and number of teams in each playoff division. Schools are listed below with their MaxPreps Cup rating separated into boys only and girls only sports. Coed sports, such as football, were considered as a boys sport.
