Arne Slot built on the successful era under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool incredibly well, winning the Premier League in his first year in charge. However, in 2025/26, it all went wrong.
The Reds went trophyless, Slot was given the boot and in walked Spaniard Andoni Iraola.
Life under the former Bournemouth boss will look a bit different. Mohamed Salah has left Anfield and headed to Turkey. Virgil van Dijk is getting older all the time and they’ve lost defensive stalwart Ibrahima Konate.

The goalkeepers
On a whopping £150k-per-week, it is unsurprising to see Alisson come out as one of the highest earning players in the Liverpool squad.
He’s won the Reds many a point and is widely celebrated as one of the best gloveman in Premier League history.
Behind him, Giorgi Mamardashvili will aim to finally put up a fight for more first-team minutes with a late-season injury seeing Freddie Woodman rewarded with game time at the back end of 2025/26.

The defenders
With Salah departing in the summer of 2026, the highest-earning player in the Liverpool squad now is captain Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman is a pillar of greatness and even if he did have a bit of a dicey 2025/26 campaign, he is still one of the best defenders in the world.
Konate has left so that has freed up some space on the wage bill, with the two new arrivals in the form of Barcelona loanee Ronald Araujo and young French defender Jeremy Jacquet the next highest earning players at the back.
Milos Kerkez is on a surprisingly low wage, but expect that to rise in the forthcoming years. After all, with Andy Roberston leaving, he will now surely become the undisputed number one choice at left-back.

The midfielders
Three of Liverpool’s highest-earners appear in this list with Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz taking home a collective £730k-per-week.
Szoboszlai more than justified his pay packet in 2025/26. He was arguably the club’s best player. That said, it would be safe to say Wirtz struggled during his maiden campaign in English football.
Despite being handed a £200k-per-week salary on his arrival in Merseyside, the German scored just seven goals and registered eight assists.

The forwards
The second highest-earner in the entire squad is Swedish forward Alexander Isak. He is the most expensive player in Premier League history and has a wage befitting of that very fact.
Isak, however, has struggled in Liverpool colours. During an injury-hit debut season at Anfield, he scored just four goals in 22 appearances.
Behind him are the likes of Cody Gakpo, Hugo Ekitike and Rio Ngumoha but the wage bill looks lighter here now they have lost a certain Salah.
New signing for 2026/27, Victor Munoz, is one of the lowest paid players in the team, taking home £75k-per-week.
