Deshawn Dillon, the No. 127 overall basketball recruit and a star wide receiver in the 2027 class, announced his Georgia Tech commitment Saturday on the CBS Sports College Basketball YouTube channel and CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel.
The 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Flowood (Miss.) Northwest Rankin is one of the country’s top dual-sport athletes. He chose the Yellow Jackets over his other two finalists, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
“The staff told me that they want me to be the next Megatron,” Dillon said, referencing Calvin Johnson. “He is a great wide receiver, and they have a Hall of Famer in (assistant wide receivers coach) DeAndre Hopkins, so you can’t go wrong with that.”
Dillon completed his official visit to Georgia Tech in early June. During his time on campus, he valued the family atmosphere within the program.
“I like the bond the team had,” Dillon said. “They have all the chemistry, and it felt like family, and that is what I like.”
When discussing what he plans to bring to the program, Dillon said he wants to bring a winner’s mentality to Atlanta.
“They are getting a dog,” Dillon said. “I am a winner, and I’m trying to go win a national championship.”
