It’s never straightforward at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea having dismissed Liam Rosenior after three months in charge, the former Strasbourg manager himself replacing Enzo Maresca in January.
If one thing is clear, it is that Chelsea need stability, with the BlueCo era defined by so many twists and turns, five sporting directors and eight different faces in the dugout since the purchase was made in 2022.

Something needs to change, but that change needs to solidify and stay intact over the next few years, allowing Chelsea to return to the illustrious success they have come to know as the norm over the past several decades.
Who Chelsea are considering to hire
Liam Rosenior was sacked earlier this week after five successive defeats at the Chelsea helm. Few of a Blues persuasion will have contested the decision, though it’s not unfair to say that some might have seen something like this coming.
Who to replace him? Well, Cesc Fabregas is in the running, the Como coach a realistic pick and one of the most exciting young managers in the world. His club have informed him he is free to pursue a move to Stamford Bridge, should he choose.
Moving forward, Chelsea need to appoint a manager who can lead this project over years, not months, and know their stuff when pushing to win titles and manage world-class players.
That could be why Chelsea are setting their sights on Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique, with Sky Sports reporting on previous consideration of the decorated manager, interviewing him and holding talks before moving in a different direction.
The Spanish tactician’s contract is up in just over a year, and while the Parisians are trying to extend his terms until 2030, Chelsea have a real chance to pounce and convince him to finally try his hand at Premier League football.
In 2013, Enrique admitted that he would “like to manage in England one day.” Now, he could have the chance to become the figurehead of a wealthy Chelsea project.
Why Luis Enrique would be Chelsea’s dream choice
Fabregas is an interesting option for Chelsea chiefs to consider, but the young coach is only at the start of his promising managerial career, and taking the reins at this nascent stage might be a step too far.
Chelsea need experience, someone who has succeeded at the highest level. Enrique is that figure, having won European trebles with barcelona and, last year, PSG, who were breathtakingly good and now pursue another Champions League title, into the semi-finals, where Bayern Munich await.
A fine balance between positional balance and high-octane possession-focused play has been struck in the French capital. Enrique is the architect of that, finally unifying a PSG side who had notoriously struggled in Europe despite their riches and their quality.
Should he arrive in the Premier League, the expectations would be high. There is a reason for that, whereas Fabregas would arrive with doubters surrounding him, and though he has the potential to succeed, this is a mammoth job, and one that might be above his pay grade given his managerial inexperience.
There’s no question that Fabregas is a promising coach who could develop the credentials to star as Chelsea’s leader, but maybe he’s not there yet. Maybe Chelsea would be repeating the same old mistakes by hiring him when the likes of Enrique could be convinced.
Enrique’s interchangeable tactics, his adaptability, makes him the perfect manager for such a dynamic and wide-ranging squad as Chelsea’s. Moreover, he has been to the top and stayed there. He would command respect, maybe even convincing the likes of Enzo Fernandez to stay, with the £100m-rated Argentine supposedly angling for a summer switch.
He has, after all, been named “the best manager in Europe” by pundit Jamie Carragher, and it’s not hard to see why someone might make that assertion.
While Enrique might not stay at Stamford Bridge for a decade, should he sign on this summer, he would certainly have the capacity to steer the club toward silverware, and for that, he must be targeted over Fabregas.
