Just two years removed from an undefeated season that culminated in Michigan‘s first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship, the Wolverines have slipped down the Big Ten totem pole, according to CBS Sports insiders.
The program is now on its third coach since the start of the 2023 season. Despite some promising early returns under Kyle Whittingham, Michigan sits firmly behind Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana and USC in the current Big Ten hierarchy.
Player development — particularly with one of the team’s biggest stars — along with recruiting, are major factors in that drop, CBS Sports insiders said on CBS Sports HQ.
