The quarterback with perhaps the most ground to gain at the Elite 11 Finals this weekend won’t have to cover much distance to get there.
A short six-mile drive up Pacific Coast Highway separates Ryan Rakowski‘s high school, Palos Verdes, from Manhattan Beach (Calif.) Mira Costa, the site of the prestigious passing competition which year after year serves as a grand stage for the nation’s premier signal callers.
Rakowski is the local hopeful, a laid back West Coaster who’s been known to turn up the intensity whenever he’s in between the white lines. He is also the lowest-ranked prospect among the 20 participants, but don’t tell Rakowski he’s the underdog of the event.
