If Arsenal hope to retain their Premier League title next season, they will need to stay ahead of the curve, and if they hope to stay ahead of the curve, they will need to outsmart their rivals in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners came within a whisker of the double this season, and while Mikel Arteta has created a first-class outfit over a series of hard-fought years, something was left wanting in attack across the 2025/26 campaign, and that’s where the transfer strategy must be angled toward.

The likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke have played a big role in Arsenal’s title-winning season, but there are better players out there, and Arsenal need to keep on reaching for the stars if they wish to cement this dynasty.

Arsenal expected to lodge bid for £34m target

Arsenal’s forwards failed to match the quality of the defenders and midfielders at times throughout the season, and now, it’s clear that improvements in attack could take this project to the next level.

Another number nine to challenge Gyokeres could be perfect, but Arsenal also need more dynamism and danger out wide, and technical director Andrea Berta has found the perfect new recruit for the job.

According to reports from Greece, Christos Tzolis is closing in on a move to Arsenal, with a formal, official offer expected in the coming days.

This follows confirmation from Sky Sports that Arsenal are indeed interested in signing the Club Brugge star, with the focus on his signature independent of a move for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Club-Brugge-Tzolis

With a price tag of around £34m, as per Sky Sports, the 24-year-old could end up proving a shrewd signing indeed for the champions, who are open to selling one of Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard this summer.

Tzolis might have failed to make the grade when last in English football, at Norwich City in the Championship, but in that, he could emerge as Arsenal’s new Gyokeres, with all the pointers suggesting that he is headed for the Emirates this summer.

Why Tzolis could be Arsenal’s next Gyokeres

Tzolis has been “an incredible signing” for Club Brugge, according to talent scout Jacek Kulig, and now, it seems like he is on the verge of signing for Arsenal in what could be an exceptional bit of business.

Stepping up to the Premier League could seem a tall order for a young winger such as Tzolis, but he would dovetail into a high-flying Arsenal outfit whose system could see him maintain such clinical heights. Across 36 Pro League matches in Belgium in 2025/26, Tzolis scored 17 goals and supplied 23 more.

That is an astounding number of contributions, and he backed it up with impressive underlying data, winning over four duels per game and creating 25 big chances.

Tzolis-Norwich-City

He would be a fantastic replacement for either Trossard or Martinelli, but Tzolis could actually establish himself as Arsenal’s next version of Gyokeres, a prolific attacker with incredible numbers.

Gyokeres bagged 97 goals across 102 games for Sporting before moving to the Premier League, and while fans will be wary that Tzolis would mimic the Sweden striker’s impact – clinical but lacking in wider areas of play – he has enough technical quality to adhere to the Arsenal way.

A one-time Norwich prospect, Tzolis has a further link to Gyokeres there, with the 28-year-old failing at Brighton before moving to Coventry City and playing a part in the second tier. Now, though, he is refined and ready to move to the highest level of English football.

Arsenal need to add more impetus at the front of the ship next season, and Tzolis could be the shrewd solution that Arteta is looking for after watching a slight regression in attack over the past year that has been at odds with the club’s title-winning success.

He might not be the biggest name, but Tzolis has a chip on his shoulder after failing to succeed at Norwich in England before. It could be a repeat of the deal that welcomed Gyokeres to the club.
