Adrian Yanez scored the biggest win of his UFC career earlier tonight and also returned to winning ways, sending former bantamweight champ Cody Garbrandt to the shadow realm at UFC 329.
Garbrandt looked fast and fresh, and both 135-pounders were game to stand in the pocket from the opening bell. However, “No Love’s” strategy to land crazy volume and also eat a few proved to be the wrong approach.
Cody Garbrandt decided to stay in the pocket and stand and bang, having found his range and rhythm early. But a powerful right hand to the temple by Adrian Yanez, followed by another crushing right hook, sent the former champ face-first to the canvas at UFC 329.
The 35-year-old tried to get back to his feet but was stunned and thus failed, forcing the referee to step in and wave off the contest. After the loss, Garbrandt (15-8) took off his gloves.
Official decision: Adrian Yanez defeated Cody Garbrandt via TKO at 2:47 of Round 1 at UFC 329.
