247Sports released its first batch of rankings for the 2027 junior college class Wednesday.
From now on, the 2027 JUCO rankings will be quite fluid, especially once the 2026 season arrives.
Our first update features an emphasis on the line of scrimmage, which recent NFL Draft data reflects.
Twenty-five players own mid-three-star 85 rating or higher, and 18 of those wear a position label corresponding to the line of scrimmage: OT, IOL, DL or EDGE.
Coincidentally, the No. 1 overall prospect resides on the perimeter.
CB ALIUS MAYO HEADLINES THE TOP OF THE BOARD
Alius Mayo owns the highest rating in our 2027 JUCO Initial Top 50 with a four-star 91 grade. The Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln alumnus stars outside for Modesto (Calif.) Junior College, where his almost 6-foot-4 frame overwhelms receivers.
Mayo used his 6-foot-6-plus wingspan and awareness to record 30 tackles, one interception and five pass breakups in 11 games last fall. Mayo is a competitor whose field demeanor conveys even on tape. He can play zone or man coverages and stay with good athletes to multiple levels as needed.
Alabama and Cal got June official visits from Mayo, who produced three takeaways, two defensive touchdowns and a 30-yard touchdown catch as a high school senior in 2024.
Burly, athletic defensive lineman Christian Mays sits at No. 2 with a four-star 90 rating in the 2027 JUCO Initial Top 50. Pushing 6-foot-5, 350 pounds, the Tennessee pledge is a massive interior presence.
With that physical magnitude, Mays can two-gap it inside, but his functional athleticism includes startling short-area suddenness that yields some playmaking penetration. Mays’ eight-game 2025 season at Booneville (Miss.) Northeast Mississippi Community College produced 17 tackles (five for loss) and one sack with an impact that exceeded the counting stats.

After Mays, three more LOS prospects round out the top five: Boise State-bound edge rusher Beaux Sauve and Iowa Central offensive linemen Zavian Chones-Ashmore and Michael Smith.
