Four of the nation’s premier high school swimming programs extended their remarkable runs of dominance last season, leading a group of 21 prep teams with active streaks of at least 10 consecutive state championships.
Carmel ( Ind.) girls swimming remains in a class of its own after capturing a 40th straight state championship. The Greyhounds showed little sign of slowing down, finishing nearly 100 points ahead of runner-up Fishers. With the majority of last year’s team expected back for the 2027 winter season, the Hoosier State powerhouse appears well positioned to add another title to its record-setting streak.
The Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.) and St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.) boys swimming teams are tied for second with 38 consecutive state championships. Bolles also boasts another of the nation’s longest streaks on the girls side, where the Bulldogs have won 35 straight state titles.
While those swimming dynasties continued to roll, another long championship streak came to an end. Mount Anthony (Bennington, Vt.) wrestling saw its remarkable run of 36 consecutive state championships snapped last season, ending one of the most dominant stretches in high school sports history.
