CBS Sports’ latest Top 25 and 1 ranked Florida, Duke, Michigan and Illinois as the top four teams in college basketball for the 2026-27 season, in that order. However, national basketball analysts Travis Branham and Isaac Trotter, along with 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein, don’t see it the same way.

The trio of experts broke down each roster to determine which teams are ranked too high, which are too low, and if any are just right.

Florida enters the season as the preseason No. 1 in nearly every metric, boasting a formidable frontcourt trio of returnees Thomas Haugh, Alex Condon, and Rueben Chinyelu. But is the Gators’ backcourt strong enough to carry them back to the Final Four after last year’s disappointing second-round exit? Similar concerns loom for the frontcourts of Duke and Michigan.
