The 247Sports scouting team released its updated Top247 rankings for the 2027 college football recruiting class Wednesday, featuring a significant shakeup in the top 10 quarterbacks. The most notable change saw Alabama commitment Elijah Haven dethroned from the No. 1 spot — a ranking he had held since August 2024.
The race to replace Haven as the nation’s top quarterback came down to Nebraska commit Trae Taylor and Miami pledge Israel Abrams. The two shared co-Alpha Dog honors at the Elite 11 Finals late last month and enter their senior seasons ranked among the country’s top 10 overall recruits.
“Haven might not be QB1 anymore, but that shouldn’t take away from what he can be in college and beyond,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote in Wednesday’s reveal article. “The most physically-gifted quarterback of the cycle is a force on Friday nights who set Louisiana records in both passing yards and passing touchdowns as an 11th-grader. The flashes remain extremely promising.”
