Chayse Brown, a 2028 athlete out of Ruskin (Fla.) Lennard, has committed to Florida State, he tells 247Sports.

The 6-foot-2, 165-pounder chose the Seminoles over scholarship offers from the likes of LSU, Louisville, Maryland and Nebraska.

He was offered by the ‘Noles only a day ago after dominating FSU’s 7-on-7 tournament alongside his high school team.

“It felt very good because even before, like since I’ve been growing up playing football, FSU has always been my favorite school,” Brown said of receiving the offer on Wednesday.

A day later, he felt the time was right to join FSU’s 2028 recruiting class — becoming the first prospect to do so.

“I have always been talking to the coaches and the coaches are very cool, they love me, and I love them, and I love everything about it,” he said. “I had been on an unofficial visit down there two times on a tour and everything.”

As far as what position Brown will play at the next level, the two-way athlete says he is open to impacting both sides of the ball.

He attends the same high school at four-star 2027 safety Mekhi Williams, who flipped from FSU to Wisconsin earlier this month.

Last season, as a sophomore, Brown finished with 20 receptions for 334 yards and three touchdowns. He added six tackles and an interception defensively.

Brown’s high school head coach, KB Belton, loves the versatility he provides to his squad.

“Versatile athlete with an extremely high ceiling,” Belton said of Brown. “Can line up in the slot, outside and turn around and guard the best player. His ball skills are elite. If the ball is in there air, it’s his.”
