Arsenal come into the ongoing transfer window with the need to improve their forward line.

Viktor Gyokeres netted 21 times in all competitions, finishing as the Gunners’ top scorer in 2025/26 but the jury is out on his all-round game.

Out on the flanks, plenty was left to be desired. Leandro Trossard has only scored once in 2026, Gabriel Martinelli could only register a solitary Premier League goal throughout the whole campaign and Noni Madueke only bagged three league goals himself.

It explains why Arsenal are chasing the likes of Bradley Barcola and Morgan Rogers, but what is the latest on their pursuit of a new winger?

Arsenal agree fee to sign exciting wide player

For those wanting to see the Gunners seal some game-changing signings in attack then we have some good news for you.

A bid is reportedly being prepared for PSG’s Barcola while their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Rogers is beginning to gather some real momentum now.

While Villa are not keen on losing their star man, it has not deterred Andrea Berta and Co from firmly sinking their teeth into this transfer race.

Rogers is seemingly keen to join too. He has allegedly told the hierarchy at Villa Park that he would like to explore a move to the Emirates and expects to make the switch. Yet, the key thing will be a fee. It could well take as much as £100m to prise him away from the Midlands.

Speaking of fees, Arsenal have apparently agreed one with Leicester City for Jeremy Monga. Much has been spoken about this exciting teenager in recent weeks with the Gunners recently agreeing personal terms with the player. He only wants to join Arsenal.

After some negotiating, it looks as though a deal is on the verge of completion. talkSPORT report this week that they have officially agreed a price with the Foxes for the transfer of Monga.

Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga

Eight clubs, including Manchester United, were interested in the 16-year-old but the north Londoners are set to beat them all to sign him.

Arsenal were happy to avoid a tribunal and will pay Leicester around £10m to land one of English football’s most talented young wide players.

Why Monga is bad news for Leandro Trossard at Arsenal

Since arriving from Brighton for a bargain price of £27m, Trossard has proven to be a remarkably good capture for the Premier League winners.

On countless occasions, the diminutive Belgian has come up with the goods when it matters most. It says it all that his only goal of 2026 so far was the vital winner away at West Ham.

The winger did start to come alive in the final weeks of the season but, at the age of 31, Trossard is now reaching the back end of his career, his powers are waning.

He did play a really important role in helping Mikel Arteta’s side win the title but it’s now time for fresh blood. In Rogers or Barcola, Arsenal would sign an elite replacement and in Monga, they would sign the added squad depth they need to challenge for further silverware.

Arsenal-Leandro-Trossard

More depth on the left is certainly bad news for Trossard who has never been the first name on the teamsheet. He has always been in and out of the team. One game Martinelli started, the next game the Belgium international featured from the off.

With interest from elsewhere in him, it really does feel as though the arrival of Monga could be the final nail in the coffin for the club’s number 19.

Aged just 16, you may well think this move is one only with the future in mind. Sure, the teenager is going to be a smash hit in upcoming seasons but he is also ready for first-team football now. He’s already played 37 senior games for Leicester and made his Premier League debut at the age of 15.

9) Joel Drakes-Thomas (Palace)

10) Gary McSheffrey (Coventry)

16 years, 6 months

Incredibly, the only two players to make their bows at a younger age are Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman. Arsenal could be about to have all three at their disposal.

So, what makes Monga so special? Well, he’s got a daring dribbling ability and he’s incredibly direct. Comparisons have been made to Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku for the way he can manipulate the ball in tight spaces and run at speed on the flanks.

As the Leicester Mercury’s Josh Holland put it, the youngster “plays football like he is playing in the street. He is a remarkable ball-carrier who is obsessed with beating his man and driving forward.”

For Arteta, the thought of replacing Trossard with a dazzling youngster such as this is no doubt an exciting prospect. He is by no means ready to start as many games as the former Brighton man but that’s why Arsenal are also interested in the likes of Rogers and Barcola.
