COLLEGE STATION, Texas – 247Sports’ national scouting team joined dozens of FBS prospects this weekend in the Brazos Valley for the annual Texas 7on7 Championships, which provide one of the best offseason scouting opportunities in the Lone Star State.
The event gives us a chance to see a high number of prospects across multiple recruiting classes in one place. A theme of this year’s three-day 7-on-7 extravaganza: Underclassmen shining.
Whether the big-school, name-brand programs in Division I, or the small-town programs in Division II and III, 2028 and 2029 prospects made their marks on the 2026 Texas 7on7 Championships.
Here’s our rundown of standouts from the weekend, leading with a 2028 Top247 four-star talent who led his team to a surprise championship in the Division I competition.
ALPHA DOG: ISAIAH TAYLOR, 2028 TOP247 CB
Our first moment watching Keller Central’s 2028 twin standouts Isaiah Taylor and Jeremiah Taylor resulted in a 10-yard pick-6 for the former during Friday’s pool play. That play served as a harbinger, as Isaiah Taylor spearheaded Keller Central’s unexpected run to the Division I championship, walking off powerhouse Allen in the title on an untimed down to clinch the crown.
Taylor, who played full-time two-way snaps at quarterback and DB, fired a pass from about 10 yards to a wide open Gavin Smith for the championship-clinching TD. The play came right after Allen’s team prematurely sprinted onto the field, mistaking a timekeeper’s airhorn ending the consolation title on an adjacent field for the end of their championship game.
Earlier in the second half, Taylor two-hand plucked a critical interception on a goal line, over-the-middle throw from Allen 2029 QB Ty Snell, who’s reported 30-plus offers. That followed an interception in Keller Central’s semifinal win against another name-brand power in Lake Travis, which surrendered a key deep-ball touchdown strike from Isaiah to Jeremiah, who had rather easily gotten behind LT’s secondary.
