Connor Bedard wouldn’t mind Patrick Kane returning to the Chicago Blackhawks
Scott Powers: Chicago Blackhawks Connor Bedard hopes they can sign Patrick Kane, bringing him back to the organization where he started his career.
“I hope so. I don’t know what I can say to persuade his decision, but we’d all obviously be so excited to have a player like that, but also a guy like that. I can’t imagine his first game back at the UC, the reaction he’d get and how much juice that would bring not only to our team but our fans as well. That would be incredible to get to play with him and learn from him.
Hopefully he decides to come back. You talk about the legacy aspect of it, but as a team, it would make us a way better team. He’s still an amazing player. I don’t know if this is the best pitch, but hopefully he comes back and we can play together, for sure.”
Where could Patrick Kane, Vladimir Tarasenko, and John Klingberg end up?
Pittsburgh Penguins hits on Shane Wright, Erik Karlsson, Jason Robertson and Elias Pettersson
Josh Yohe of The Athletic: (mailbag) Two sources have said that the Pittsburgh Penguins have some interest in Seattle Kraken forward Shane Wright. The Penguins are a little thin on young centers, so it makes total sense that they are interested in the 22-year-old center. The problem is the asking price is really high, and possibly too much for the Penguins.
36-year-old defenseman Erik Karlsson is entering the final year of his contract. If they don’t plan on bringing him back, and despite wanting to contend this year, it may make more sense to trade him for a significant asset or two. An extension for Karlsson wouldn’t be cheap, and given his age, it wouldn’t make much sense. If Karlsson is having a good season and they are in the hunt, they could keep him past the deadline and let him walk to free agency. If they’re out, they’ll likely move him.
It might cost the Penguins Rickard Rakell, a first-round pick, Harrison Brunicke and Rutger McGroarty for Dallas Stars Jason Robertson, and that might be more than they’re willing to do.
Vancouver Canucks Filip Hronek won’t lose trade value
The Penguins would be interested in trading for Elias Pettersson, but only if the Vancouver Canucks retain a big part of his contract, and they don’t give up much to get him. Seems unlikely.
