Dustin Poirier has opened up about losing his Bud Light sponsorship deal following the July 19 airport incident.
For context, on Father’s Day, Poirier was arrested for public drunkenness at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Body cam footage of the incident went viral, in which the former UFC fighter was arguing with and threatening the police and other airline staff on the scene. He was released on bail after one day.

Dustin Poirier is no longer working with Bud Light, as the top beer brand terminated his contract immediately After His Arrest
Recently, during a sit-down with Ariel Helwani, Dustin Poirier confirmed that after the arrest, Bud Light, one of his major sponsors, terminated his contract immediately. “The Diamond” admitted he will miss out on “a few hundred thousand dollars” but said that, in the end, choosing not to promote something he wants to abstain from is the right decision.
“They terminated my contract immediately. It’s all good, man. I don’t need that f*cking poison in my life. It sucks that my family is missing out on the money I had left on the deal with them, which is a few hundred thousand dollars. But also, if I’m representing something that, if I’m advertising something I’m not going to be taking part in, promoting stuff, it is what it is.”
Poirier added:
“I don’t have a problem with people. There are plenty of people out there who do drink responsibly. I’m not one. So if you can drink responsibly, have fun. Drink a Bud Light. Drink whatever the hell you want. Be responsible, have a good time.”
The Louisiana native told Helwani that, aside from Bud Light, other sponsors have been really supportive, and so far he has not had any problems.

After the airport incident, “The Diamond” has issued a public apology for his public intoxication arrest and also for using a racial slur during the incident.
Since then, he has committed to sobriety and vowed to his family that he will stay away from alcohol forever.
Previously, Poirier was worried that his arrest could lead to him being dropped by Paramount too, meaning fans might no longer see him working as an analyst during UFC events or appearing on the Deep Waters podcast.
However, there is good news now. Poirier did not lose that gig and most recently appeared on the Deep Waters podcast.
