Last fall, head coach Brian Ong guided the Lions to a 28-0 season, second straight Trinity League championship and the Southern Section Division I title. The program finished No. 1 in the final national fall rankings.
JSerra went 7-0 last season against fellow MaxPreps Flag Football Showdown participants, capping one of the most dominant campaigns in the sport’s history after finishing 20-7 just one year earlier.
“For us as a program, starting out 8-0 the first
year and going 20-7 the second year to 28-0, I think there’s been a lot
of growth in the program,” Ong said.
Sophomore quarterback Kate Meier returns after throwing for 3,729 yards and 58 touchdowns while earning a spot in the Team USA development program. Junior Ava Van Heerde gives the Lions another proven option after accounting for 3,460 total yards and 44 touchdowns.
Senior G.G. Szczuka, the reigning Trinity League MVP, headlines a deep group of playmakers after totaling more than 2,100 yards from scrimmage and 21 touchdowns.
“We are as competitive as they come,” Ong said. “We’re there to win but we have lots of room to grow, lots of room to learn.”
