When Oklahoma State takes the field Sept. 5 at Tulsa, Cowboys fans will likely be double-checking their programs to get familiar with the new faces on the roster. In the Pokes’ debut season under Eric Morris, and first without Mike Gundy on the sideline since 2001, the roster underwent a dramatic change.
There are 25 holdovers from last year’s team and 90 new names as the Cowboys seek a return to Big 12 contention.
Morris landed the job after leading North Texas to an AAC Conference Championship Game appearance and 11-2 record in 2025. Morris brings with him a majority of his operation from North Texas, including most of his coaching staff and a large part of his front office.
Leading the way behind the scenes is general manager Raj Murti. At 25 years of age, Murti has been a fast riser in the personnel world.
A University of Houston graduate with a degree in business administration and finance, Murti rose from a recruiting intern with the Cougars to general manager at North Texas in five years. Along the way, he served as assistant director of player personnel at Houston before eventually earning the same title at TCU before North Texas came calling.
When Morris accepted the Oklahoma State job with a few games left in the North Texas season, it was up to Murti to work as an advance man and start putting together a recruiting class for the Cowboys.
The much-maligned college football calendar didn’t give him much time.
