Over the course of the past three months, the 247Sports national team has had boots on the ground at every major sneaker circuit, both USA Basketball Training Camps, NBPA Top 100 Camp, adidas EuroCamp, numerous scholastic events and other independent events. Simply put, we’ve left no stone unturned and continued to cover the recruiting scene at a level that is completely unmatched in the industry. The result of those miles and time in the gym is the updated 2027 national rankings.

Candidly, we entered the spring having relatively low expectations and have been somewhat pleasantly surprised in the months since.

This group may not be anywhere close to the 2025 cycle that is about the cross the draft stage next week, but they’re comparable to the 2026 class, even after losing what were previously their top two prospects in Baba Oladotun and Bruce Branch, who respectively reclassified as Maryland and BYU signees.

While that reclassification trend also includes the likes of Obinna Ekezie Jr. — another five-star big man who went to Louisville a year earlier than expected — and is expected to pull a few more from 2027 to 2026 before the summer is over, this class still has plenty to be excited about.

THE BATTLE FOR THE TOP SPOT

Three months ago, this looked like a two-player race between Marcus Spears Jr. and CJ Rosser. Now, it still looks like a two-player race, but Spears’ top competition is coming from Beckham Black.

Spears retains his top spot for now, but this was not an easy decision. In fact, there was more than one member of the group who believed that Black deserved the spot. And so, his is a race that is only intensifying entering the summer.
