Brandon (Miss.) High three-star quarterback Sladen Shack is the newest commit for the Illinois Fighting Illini. The 6-1, 211-pounder, who 247Sports slots as the No. 101 quarterback this cycle and No. 37 player in his home state, chose to play for head coach Brett Bielema over offers from Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, UConn, South Florida, East Carolina, and many others.
Behind the scenes, this recruitment was somewhat back-and-forth recently. Both Illinois and Oklahoma State had optimism down the stretch. These were the two battling it out. In the end, Shack found a home in Champaign.
Ahead of his public commitment, Shack spoke with 247Sports about his decision to commit to Illinois.
