Nottingham Forest continue to be at the centre of one of the biggest summer transfer stories amid ongoing negotiations with Man City over Elliot Anderson.

The midfielder has emerged as a priority target for the Sky Blues after an outstanding campaign at the City Ground.

Man City’s interest has been building for several weeks.

Reports throughout the summer have suggested the Premier League runners-up view Anderson as one of the best young midfielders currently playing in England, but Forest have so far resisted attempts to prise the player away.

The club have maintained a strong negotiating position during discussions.

Forest value Anderson as one of their most important assets, and that stance has helped drive the price upwards as talks have continued.

He’s been in exceptional form.

City are understood to have already seen multiple mammoth bids rejected, with Evangelos Marinakis recently snubbing a £106 million offer plus an additional £15 million in add-ons.

Forest’s hierarchy have consistently signalled that any agreement would require a substantial transfer fee, and that is believed to be north of £120m as a guaranteed fee.

The latest updates from Germany have suggested negotiations between the two clubs are continuing to move forward.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg recently reported that discussions were advancing, and the same report stated there was currently no rival proposal on the table capable of matching City’s efforts.

Man United had been linked with Anderson earlier in the window, but there is apparently no comparable offer from Old Trafford at this stage.

As a result, City remain firmly in pole position if a deal is eventually completed.

The potential sale would represent the biggest outgoing transfer in Forest’s history, and it would also provide significant funds for recruitment.

Forest have already been linked with several possible replacements and additions in recent week, with Davide Frattesi among the midfielders reportedly under consideration.

Against that backdrop, though, it appears another player could soon be heading out the door with Anderson.

Nicolo Savona agrees personal terms to leave Nottingham Forest

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Atalanta have made significant progress in their pursuit of Nicolo Savona.

His report states that the Serie A club have reached a full agreement with the player regarding personal terms, and negotiations over salary and contract conditions are understood to have been successfully completed.

That development means attention can now switch towards discussions between the two clubs.

Atalanta are expected to intensify talks with Forest as they attempt to secure a transfer agreement.

The Italian side have been monitoring Savona’s situation for several weeks, after interest in the defender first emerged earlier in the summer.

Since then, Atalanta have continued working behind the scenes to move the deal forward.

However, Marinakis won’t allow any departure without securing terms he considers satisfactory, as evident by the lengthy Anderson saga.

Savona only arrived at Forest last summer from Juventus and remains part of the squad planning for the upcoming campaign, so that means Atalanta will still need to convince Forest before any move can be finalised.

The 23-year-old made an excellent start to his career at Forest, playing nearly every league game towards the beginning of 25/26, and managed to score against both Man United and Liverpool.

However, Savona’s season was ended by a serious knee injury in the winter.
