Tottenham have already made a huge statement this summer by completing a club-record £100million move for Sandro Tonali, but the spending won’t stop.
With Roberto De Zerbi continuing to reshape his squad, attention is now turning towards Man City winger Savinho, another player admired by Spurs’ recruitment team.
Savinho has been on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs for several years.
Barcelona chief Deco explored the possibility of signing the Brazilian during his breakout spell at Girona in 2023, as confirmed by their sporting director Quique Cárcel at the time, before City moved to bring him in via the City Football Group setup.
Since then, the winger has continued to develop, even if he’s found consistent minutes hard to come by.
Pep Guardiola has described him as a “top-class” wide player thanks to his pace, dribbling ability and confidence in one-on-one situations, with the ex-City boss claiming he has the potential to be a truly elite player if he adds goals and assists to his game.

Speaking to talkSPORT, transfer journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Savinho has become Spurs’ priority target as they look to strengthen their attack following the arrival of Tonali.
“Their primary focus is Savinho,” Jacobs said.
“Let’s see whether the Man City board choose to sanction that deal or not.”
Those comments suggest the biggest obstacle may not be convincing the player but instead persuading City to part with one of their talented young attackers.
While Savinho has shown flashes of his enormous potential, breaking into the starting XI consistently has never been straightforward given the competition for places.
That is where Tottenham could offer something different.
Regular Premier League football, a central role in De Zerbi’s attacking plans and the opportunity to become one of the team’s headline players would all make north London an attractive destination if City decide a sale or loan is the right move.
Why Savinho and Tottenham are a match made in heaven
Savinho’s game appears well suited to De Zerbi’s style.
He thrives when receiving the ball in space, attacks full-backs with confidence and has the acceleration to stretch defensive lines.
The Brazilian is equally comfortable creating chances for teammates or driving into dangerous shooting positions himself, making him a genuine threat from wide areas, even if his end product could use some improvement.
If Tottenham can convince City to negotiate, it could prove to be another exciting piece of business.
Savinho’s ceiling remains extremely high. At just 22, he already possesses qualities that cannot easily be coached: explosive pace, flair and the bravery to take defenders on repeatedly.

For Spurs, adding that type of unpredictable winger alongside their new-look squad would give De Zerbi another dynamic attacking weapon.
If City open the door, Savinho looks capable of becoming one of the Premier League’s most entertaining wide forwards over the coming years.
