Featherweight contenders Tommy McMillen and Alberto Montes kickstarted the UFC Oklahoma City main card with a bang.

McMillen’s insane pace combined with a variety of strikes was too much for Montes to handle in the first frame. From the opening bell, both fighters engaged in a slugfest, and “Gun” got the lead with his nonstop shots to the body and head of Montes.

Both fighters dropped each other at some point in the first round, but McMillen was clearly the faster man tonight, who sought an early finish, pushing Montes against the fence and landing nonstop bombs. The 32-year-old, on the other hand, managed to survive the early storm to enter Round 2 but appeared completely gassed out.

Round 2 was a similar round for Tommy McMillen. He kept the same pace, controlled the fight, and pieced up Montes’ face and body nonstop. However, despite eating a ton of brutal blows, “The Promise” showed no signs of giving up.

In Round 3, the Venezuelan fighter needed a finish to win but got dropped early and took even more punishment. McMillen walked Montes down for the rest of the minutes, landing clean shots that opened deep cuts on Montes and left him wobbling.

After “The Promise” absorbed a ton of unanswered strikes, the referee stepped in to stop the bout before the final round could end.

Official decision: Tommy McMillen defeats Alberto Montes by TKO (Round 3, 3:29)
