Top247 receiver Khalil Taylor will celebrate his commitment Monday, but there will be a tinge of sadness associated with it.
The Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland standout settled on his college decision a few days ago — Colorado, Nebraska and Penn State are the finalists — but he set aside July 6 long ago as his announcement date in honor of his cousin, Kevin McKenzie, who was shot and killed one year ago. He was 16.
“It’s a special day for me,” Taylor said. “That was my best friend. When I tell you that was my best friend, that was my best friend.”
