Nottingham Forest are now set to make a move for AS Monaco star Lamine Camara, who could be brought in as a replacement for Elliot Anderson.
It has been a quiet summer transfer window for Forest thus far, with Gustavo Sa and Xaver Schlager the only arrivals to date, despite Anderson completing a big-money move to Manchester City back in July.
At 28-years-old, former RB Leipzig midfielder Schlager adds experience in the middle of the park, but Camara could be a like-for-like Anderson heir, considering he is known for his ability to impact the game at both ends of the pitch.
Scout Jacek Kulig has described the Monaco maestro as a “top-class” box-to-box midfielder, and he averaged 2.7 tackles per 90 in Ligue 1 last season, just shy of Anderson’s average of 2.8 in the Premier League.

The two midfielders also performed similarly across some other key metrics, with the Monaco man excelling when it comes to completing interceptions.
The Senegalese midfielder is just 22-years-old, which is an added bonus, and he has already tested himself in the Champions League, making 15 appearances in the competition across the past two seasons, while also collecting 37 caps for his national side.
Nottingham Forest set to make move for Lamine Camara
According to a report from Foot Mercato, Nottingham Forest are poised to make a move for Camara, but there could be competition from some top clubs, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United also named as potential suitors.
It may also take as much as £65m to tempt the French side into a sale, which is a sizeable fee, although the Tricky Trees raised £116m from selling Anderson, so in theory the Senegal international should be affordable.
Nottingham Forest’s other midfield targets
With so many big clubs keen on signing Camara, it remains to be seen whether a deal will be possible, but he is far from the only option on Nottingham Forest’s shortlist.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Bergvall is also under consideration, and the Swedish maestro is valued at £60m by Roberto De Zerbi’s side, which means he may be slightly cheaper than the AS Monaco man.
AC Milan star Youssouf Fofana is also named as a key target for Oliver Glasner‘s side, and the Italian side are prepared to sanction a sale for around £15m, which means a deal wouldn’t break the bank.
